Noisy Stuff From the Pacific Northwest and Beyond

New project in the works…

Since Mike Lee moved to Idaho, and The Grindylow was put to sleep, Zach Orgel and Brent Carpenter have been staying busy with a new recording project called Baalbek.

As many of you may know, Zach and Brent were the rhythm section of Seattle’s Edu-Core kings… BlöödHag. So Baalbek saw Brent back on the drums writing with Zach’s unique Butler/Entwistle-style riffage. After wood-shedding for months, they recorded bass and drums live at Killroon Studios in Georgetown with long-time friend and fellow BlöödHag, Jeffery McNulty.

McNulty added his audio engineering expertise and amazing touches to the skeleton of these four compositions and the rest was tracked during the last months of 2023 by Zach and Brent at their studio in SODO.

The songs on this debut incorporate the two’s love for all things heavy in the world of ROCK. Opening themselves up to longer arrangements than past projects, has allowed for a few epic opuses. Although Brent does most of the lead vocals, for the first time, Orgel takes lead vocal duties on one called “Crop Circles” that incidentally will be the single.

They will releasing a 4 song Debut EP in June on 12″ vinyl and digital formats.
